Teledyne FLIR Defense Awarded $28.8 Million Contract by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for Mobile Surveillance Systems
Will deliver its LVSS vehicle-based platform for the Enhanced Mobile Surveillance Capability-Lite program to secure U.S. borders
ELKRIDGE, MD, June 24, 2026 ― Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced that Teledyne FLIR Defense has won a $28.8 million contract from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to support the agency’s Enhanced Mobile Surveillance Capability–Lite (eMSC-L) program to bolster border security operations.
Under the 24-month contract, Teledyne FLIR Defense will deliver an advanced version of its Lightweight Vehicle Surveillance System (LVSS), a highly mobile, multi-sensor platform designed to provide situational awareness and boost operating efficiency for Border Patrol agents. The eMSC-L systems will be deployed mainly along the Southwest border, where they will enable agents to detect, identify, classify and track individuals, vehicles, or animals approaching or crossing the border.
The LVSS system integrates Teledyne’s advanced radar and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras mounted on a rapidly deployable mast, all installed on a Ford F-250 4x4 pickup truck. Outfitted with improved autonomy and communications capabilities, the upgraded LVSS allows a single operator to deploy, operate and stow the system entirely from within the vehicle cab.
“Our team has supported CBP operations for more than a decade with proven mobile surveillance solutions to help secure U.S. borders,” said Dr. JihFen Lei, President of Teledyne Defense and Aerospace Group and Senior Vice Present of Teledyne Technologies. “This award reflects CBP’s continued confidence in our ability to rapidly deliver systems that give agents the rich, detailed information they need to do their job.
“With its quick setup, automation, and reliability, LVSS can deliver actionable intelligence while performing in some of the harshest border environments.” Lei added.
Initial deliveries are expected to begin in Q3 2026. Systems will be built at Teledyne FLIR Defense’s Elkridge, Maryland facility and sustained at the company’s Tucson service center.
